Welcome

We’ve been in Napa County for over 75 years, helping our community care for land, water, soil, wildlife- and each other.

Napa County Resource Conservation District (Napa RCD) empowers the community to voluntarily conserve, protect, and restore natural resources in a landscape that supports agriculture, urban areas, and wild lands. We provide technical assistance, educational programs, monitoring programs, and funding sources to help ensure thriving watersheds for generations to come.

Farewell, Spring Interns!

This semester's Teen Conservation Interns, Solis Anguiano and Xiara Diaz, worked together to plan, advertise, and lead two invasive plant management workdays and coordinate a very large site for the Earth Day Napa Community Cleanup. Solis and Xiara concluded their internships last week. Before they left, we asked them to share some highlights of working with Napa RCD: "In our internship, we have had the opportunity to help plan different volunteer events throughout the community by doing some...

We’ve been able to provide hundreds of regionally appropriate native milkweed plants to people who are responsibly managing their plantings in pesticide-free areas. We can see our success not just in the local increase in pollinator activity and the number of plants given away, but in the passion for pollinators that our communities have shown in such a short time after receiving and caring for their free plants. ~Erin Arnsteen: Co-Founder, Western Monarch Society of Napa County

"Working with Miguel Garcia and Napa RCD carbon farming team has challenged me to rethink what I believe to be a healthy soil.  I scrutinize each tillage pass and evaluate the necessity of the operation by weighing the benefit against the potential impact.  All inputs are evaluated on their ability to improve soil health and biodiversity in the vineyard and surrounding areas." ~ Roy Oneto, Foley Family Wines

"I support Napa RCD because they play a vital role in improving our community and our environment.  They bring money into our community from grants and foundations to do environmental projects that have real and lasting benefits.  Their staff are really talented and know how to work with people to get things done." Jim Lincoln, Board Member

"We've done several projects on our property with Napa RCD staff to support biodiversity.  Now, we are building a forest health and wildfire resilience plan.  They always provide intelligence, experience, and integrity." ~ Amy Garden, Local Resident

"Acorns to Oaks has changed the way I teach.  It brings so many more layers of depth and understanding not only for the students, but for me as a teacher." ~ Christie Wolf, Teacher
