Vineyards in the Watershed

REAL LIFE EXAMPLES OF SUSTAINABLE WINEGROWING

IN NAPA VALLEY

Vineyards in the Watershed is comprised of a series of case studies and personal interviews with local farmers.  Topics addressed include soil erosion, wildlife and habitat protection, organic farming, water use and quality, and more.  NVVA President Dawnine Dyer says of the book, “The NVVA is proud to be a part of this beautiful and informative publication.  It’s certain to help raise community awareness about environmentally sensitive farming efforts and encourage growers to experiment with alternative farming techniques.”

The publishers expect the book to foster additional thought, discussion and new ways of looking at farming.  The book aims to inform both the farming and non-farming community about sustainable farming practices in Napa County.

Vineyards in the Watershed: Sustainable Winegrowing in Napa County (2002), was written by local author Juliane Poirier Locke and published by the Napa Sustainable Winegrowing Group, was funded by the Napa Valley Vintners Association (NVVA) and other community and environmental groups such as the Audubon Society Napa-Solano Chapter; Friends of the Napa River; Sierra Club; and the Natural Resources Conservation Service, to name a few.

Vineyards in the Watershed is available for free at the Napa County Resource Conservation District, 707-252-4188 or via e-mail: frances@naparcd.org.
