Putah Creek Ag-Waiver Monitoring Program
| What: |
Monitor stream flow and water quality from December to May.
|
| Where: |
Pope and Capell Creeks above Lake Berryessa. |
| Why: |
Pope and Capell Creeks are within the Putah Creek watershed, which drains into Lake Berryessa, and ultimately enters the Sacramento River. Since it is within the Sacramento River basin, Putah Creek is subject to water quality requirements of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. Water quality must be regularly monitored to insure that run-off from agricultural lands (approximately 3,400 acres) is within acceptable limits. This monitoring effort is part of a larger effort initiated by the Sacramento Valley Water Quality Coalition, which began a coordinated stream monitoring program to track agricultural water pollution in the major tributaries of the Sacramento River. |
